September 2016 TBR
Saturday, September 10, 2016
Hello and welcome to my September TBR! I've decided to get into a more structured settlement recently for my blog and book tube channel and so I've decided to do a monthly TBR. With September we have the start of fall, sweater weather, pumpkin spiced lattes and kids heading back to school. With that in mind I decided to have a theme for this month's TBR which is Back to School. I've picked books inspired by the various classes we have in school.

English Class: Pride and Prejudice By: Jane Austen
This is a book that I never finished for the booktube-a-thon this year and I carried it over to my September TBR. A classic that I adore, this is technically a re-read but since I am reading it with the intent to review it, it is like reading it for the first time all over again. I never got to read Pride and Prejudice for any of my classes when I was in school which is a pity because i would have loved it and read it a lot sooner. English wasn't my strongest subject when I was in school, even though I have always loved reading. I'm looking forward to reading the story of Miss Bennet and Mr Darcy all over again.

Geography Class: Love & Gelato By: Jenna Evans Welch
I have always been inspired and intrigued by different cultures around the world and even though I haven't travelled anywhere yet, I have ambitions to travel all over the world. I have a particular love for Italy, specifically the Tuscany region where this book is based. Florence is on my bucket list of places I have to go.
Lina's mother is dying and it is her dying wish for Lina to travel to the Tuscany region in Italy to meet her father for the first time and get to know him. Not wanting to meet a man who's been absent her entire life, Lina embarks on a journey learning about her parents' past and maybe finding love along the way.

History Class: My Lady Jane
By: Brodi Ashton, Cynthia Hand and Jodi Meadows
This is another book that was on my book tube-a-thon list that I never got to make it to. Seeing the many great things said about this book I just had to add it to my September TBR. History class was my favourite of all of my classes and I ended up taking many history courses. It was also the class I was best at, so this book looks like it is perfect for me.
This book is a hilarious take on the life of Lady Jane Grey who held the throne for 8 days before she was beheaded. With added magical elements, it really does seem like this book can do no wrong. I'm really looking forward to reading it and seeing how the collaboration of three authors on a book went as well.

Art Class: Ink (Paper Gods #1) By: Amanda Sun
I did take art class while I was in school, but I was by no means an artist at all. I would love to be talented at art but unfortunately that isn't in my cards. I had to of course pick this book for art because of the absolutely beautiful cover! The watercolour painting really gives you a feel for the book and is stunning in its' own right. The content of the book was perfect for the art category as well.
After a family tragedy Katie is shipped of to her Aunt's in Japan. Not used to the culture or way of life Katie is lost and lonely. But then she meets Tomo and strange things start to happen. Ink is in her blood and paintings start coming to life. This book screams art to me and I can't wait to read it!

Science Class: The 5th Wave By: Rick Yancey
I just realized that this book is another of my book tube-a-thon fails. It is no wonder that they ended up on my September TBR though, I was really wanting to read them and no I can give them another chance. I chose a science fiction book for my science class pick. I was quite bad at science when I was in school but being as stubborn as I am I continued with the courses even when it was extremely hard for me. I now like to keep my science basic and limit it to science fiction books.
The 5th Wave is an apocalyptic young adult book about aliens coming to take over the Earth and Cassie's rescue of her younger brother who has been taken by the aliens. A much beloved book series I have been meaning to read it for awhile and seeing the joie trailer merely made me more interested to get to it faster. An added bonus is that the series is finished so I could binge read it all if I wished to!
